wire rope fittings

Wire rope fittings are a very important part of both personalized recreation all the way to industrial applications. These fittings are any part that will join other components together. Among these items are an array of hooks, shackles, clips, turnbuckles and even pulleys. These items become very important when rock climbing and when offloading cargo from a ship on the docks. Also, wire rope fittings are useful in the wench systems that construction workers use when lifting I beams to the upper floors of new buildings.

There are a half a dozen manufacturers of fittings for all purposes in the United States. They make and carry many of the items needed for recreational activities such as rock climbing. Fittings have many specifics involved. Swivel eye hooks are one such part. They have an eye in one end for the rope to be threaded through. The swivel makes it possible to turn without causing friction on any part. Other pieces are in the shape of a figure eight. They are called clips. These fit over two sides of the rope. Often this is used to make a strong loop to be used in some part of the climb. Clips fit around the end of the rope or in the middle to make another part of the gear.

For industrial use these fittings are used in the same way but on a much larger scale. Companies generally carry sizes from 1/16 of an inch to three inches. Depending on what the specific application is custom rigging can be created from the fittings. For instance, to make a way to hook an I beam up to the crane there needs to be a pulley system that can be hooked onto the crane. This is made with a length of steel cable, a loop on each end tied together with a clamp or a link. This is hooked onto another part with a large piece called a shackle. With every piece in place the I beam is strapped and hooked onto the crane with a large cable and a hook that is looped through the end of the cable with a clip.

There are hundreds of parts that work for hundreds of applications. The recreational items are made with the same components as those used for industrial uses only smaller. Cranes use these items to build sky scrapers, the military uses them to rescue their soldiers from difficult areas, rescue operations use them to pull wounded people from the bottom of a valley and they are used in the rigging of sail boats and even the same kind of system helps to anchor a ship off shore. Everything needed for the use you have in mind is available. Custom wire rope fittings creations can be specially ordered and quite often, there is an online site to buy from to have them delivered right to your home.
